When switching between tabs, returning to a tab brings me back to the top of the page

more options

I use the tab features in both Thunderbird and Firefox. When reading an article in a new tab in Thunderbird, sometimes it's necessary to switch to a different tab, e.g. to check my Inbox. When I return to the tab, I find the article has scrolled back to the top, meaning I have to scroll down to find my place in the article. In Firefox, the page loaded will stay in the same position ( e.g. half-way down the page) and not return to the top of the page. Thunderbird doesn't work the same way. Can Thunderbird be fixed to maintain the position on the page?

Eventually. Unfortunately we do not have the benefit of a group of paid developers, so Thunderbird evolves when volunteers have the time to give.

This is the bug that will be fixed to implement the change. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487386

After looking at the long, old list of issues, I understand this wasn't as easy a fix as I had hoped. I was hoping it might be a simple matter of reviewing some Firefox code and then applying the pertinent parts to Thunderbird. Ah well. My programming skills are very old and out of date - last coded in Foxbase 3+ over 20 years ago - so I understand the frustrations you face. Good luck and thanks for a fine effort.
