Just installed AVG ultimate , and got message that the web tune-up plug in is disabled on Firefox , and I need to enable it . I went to the plugin page on Firefox , it's not there , and I have no idea what to do next . Any ideas ?

It's probably an extension, which is a different kind of add-on than a plugin.

You can view, enable/disable, and often remove extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, scroll to the bottom to find disabled extensions. Is AVG's add-on down there?

Is that something that you really need?

from a Google search: What is AVG Web Tune Up? AVG Web TuneUp is a browser add-on for Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. It offeres features like Site Safety which provides safety rating for the websites, Do Not Track to block trackers from social and other websites, along with a browser cleaner to clear up browser cache.

Do Not Track and browser clean up are features that are already built into Firefox. And Site Safety is part of the "Safe Browsing" feature in Firefox. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-does-phishing-and-malware-protection-work Doesn't provide "ratings", it blocks reported phishing and malware sites, but gives an option to proceed to the questionable website if you so wish.
