Ausgewählte Lösung

On the toolbar > Help > Troubleshooting Information -> Show Folder button to display the profile in explorer or finder. Close Thunderbird

open the mail folder Delete the folder smart mailboxes in the mail folder. Restart Thunderbird.

That will force the recreation of the whole unified folder settings.

Try this: Rebuilding the Global Database But also delete the file "panacea.dat" also.

This will rebuild Thunderbird's indexes for both the folders, and the e-mails in the folders.

I deleted the file and TB indexed the Inbox and Sent, but did not re-index Trash.

Did you delete the "panacea.dat" file also like I said?

Yes, I did.

Right-click that unified view "Trash" folder and choose "Properties". See my screenshot below for what you should see.

Make sure that "Search Online" is selected, then click the "Choose" button.

In the window that comes up, make sure that "Trash" is check-marked for each account, including "Local Folders".

Click "OK" on that window, then "Update" on the previous window.

Quit Thunderbird and start it again.

Thanks for your help! I think we're getting there. When I look at properties for that Unified Trash folder I get a different pop-up than I get for the other (Inbox, Sent) unified folders. The menu I get looks the same as I get for the sub-folders--it has two tabs, one "General Information" and one "Retention Policy". Your screenshot didn't make it to me, but by looking at the other Unified folders, I figured out what it looked like.

Thanks to both you and dirigotwo for providing the answer! That fixed it on my machine The screenshot is interesting as it showed all messages. Something had changed mine to "Match all of the following". Thanks again!!!!!
