My network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet got corrupted and is now a string entry. I cannot change it back to boolean. I have too delete it and google searches were no help, and doesn't seem like anyone has had the issue before. My next attempt will be to completely uninstall firefox and a configuration files, reinstall, and hope the new browser hasn't picked up the bad behaviour.

You can right-click the entry on the about:config page and reset the pref and close and restart Firefox or simply edit the prefs.js file in the profile folder and remove the quotes around the value.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

I found a solution. If you right click on the entry and choose "reset" then restart Firefox. Deletes the entry. Sorry for wasting anyone's time
