Opening any page in Firefox resets my Network interface

When I open Firefox the homepage is loaded, but then I lose network connection for a while. The connection is automatically restored and I can open another page (assuming it does not take too long to load)

In the windows system log the following event is generated:

NDIS event id 10400

The network interface "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V" has begun resetting. There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets. Reason: The network driver detected that its hardware has stopped responding to commands. This network interface has reset 12 time(s) since it was last initialized.

No other browser has this problem and I have tested IE, Edge and specially installed Chrome to test another none-MS browser. All work fine.

I have refreshed Firefox without the desired result. it took a reinstall to fix the issue, but it has returned. Interesting that both time the installed lasted many reboots and then suddenly , one reboot the problem started happening.

I'm using Windows 10.0.16299.192 and firefox 57.0.7

It sounds like a problem with your net or your equipment. Contact your ISP and have them check your service.

Unplug power from your modem and anything else between your computer and the internet. Wait several minutes before reconnecting. This should reboot your equipment.

Hi, thank you for your reply, but that cannot be the problem.

First I already tried that before I started to recognize the pattern. Second other browsers do not have the issue. For instance, I have been using IE as a replacement for Firefox ever since it started showing the odd behavior and it works fine. As soon as I touch Firefox the cycle seems to repeat. Since reinstalling it only temporarily fixed the issue last time, I feel that doing that again is a waste of time. If did not like Firefox so much, I would probably switched browsers

Thanks again, but I have done quite some research into this; asking the question here was my last resort. I had already seen similar problem descriptions on the Mozilla page and google and they seem to be different problem to me. AV and firewalls were already eliminated as a cause too. I work in IT and know how they can interfere. Also, this would affect other browsers and not just Firefox. It also does not explain why the NIC is being reset by the OS. This is something on a completely different level than a certificate issue that may cause a webpage not to load.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer

If this does not fix the issue it is in your Profile as long as it is Firefox issue

Also try : Run the Windows Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) and System File Checker (SFC) tools as Administrator. The DISM and SFC tools scan the integrity of the Windows image and all protected system files replaces corrupted, damaged and incorrect versions. (FOR DOING Above & Below - WINDOWS All OTHER VERSIONS - Use Search To Find Command Prompt ** Enter CMD.exe to Find COMMAND PROMPT Then Right Click & RUN AS ADMIN) Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter.

Windows 10 To run the DISM command use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu, then select Command Prompt (Admin). Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" (without quotes or copy/paste) and press Enter. Reboot After.
