Firefox 58.0 will not open
Firefox updated to v58.0.1 today and refused to open although the .exe is running in task manager. I have no add-ons installed and a very basic/default configuration.
I checked several other guides and none of the posted fixes worked for me.
Firefox opens ok in Windows safe mode but not in normal mode. Which led me to think I had an add-on or something that snuck in, but I verified there is nothing extra.
This is a corporate desktop and we run a version of Traps and System Center Endpoint Protection. Which have never had a conflict in the past.
I keep a clean machine. Nothing extra installed besides the basics. I did run through ccleaner, reg cleaning, temp file removal, all the basics. I installed and ran Malwarebytes for the heck of it - all clean, not one issue.
I tried uninstalling Firefox entirely, deleting the remaining Mozilla folder, reinstalling, backing up and making new profiles. Nothing made any difference. My prior version 57.0.4 ran fine yesterday so I cleaned up and reinstalled that. And it's working great. I'm on 57.0.4 typing this. As soon as it updated beyond 57.0.4 to 58.x it goes back to not opening. So for now I have updates disabled.
Not sure why 58.0 and 58.01 will not run properly. Firefox safe mode will not open and profile manager will not open on 58 or 58.0.1 on this machine.

I have the same issue: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1202878
I have tried these steps, but still have the issue:
- Reviewing the KB article and other help posts
- Restarting the computer
- Uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling (both 58.0.1 and previous version 58)
- Removing/renaming the existing profile folders (eliminates risk of add-ons causing problems)
- Downloading and running Firefox Portable (won't start either)
- Starting Firefox in safe mode by holding shift or by "firefox -safe-mode" (still won't start)
- Checking Windows event viewer (no related messages)
- Restarting Windows 10 in safe mode with networking (it actually works!) then returning to normal boot (stops working)
You could be seeing this bug:
- bug 1433065 - Firefox 58 is not loading any pages (including about: pages)
(please do not comment in bug reports

You can try the current 59.0 beta build to see if that solves the problem for you:

Both the bug and the question you've referenced are a separate issue from this. They're trying to navigate with an open Firefox window whereas we can't even get a Firefox window to open in the first place.
I cannot get Firefox 58.x to open a window at all. The process starts in task manager but the Firefox app/window/browser never opens.
57.0.4 opens and runs just fine. This triggered for me when 57.0.4 updated to 58.0 and 58.0.1. Both 58 versions have the same issue for me.
Still an issue. Hoping to see a real response on this.
