I have tried a lot to remove Lavasoft Ad-Aware secure search from my browser but I am unable to so. I have received this adware from uTorrent application. Please help me in removing the extension from my Mozilla browser as it's like Hijacker and making me worried. And it's a security flow in the Mozilla Firefox and many people have problem in dealing with this. Please check the below links about my problem that I want to convey.. 1) https://www.bugsfighter.com/remove-adaware-secure-search/ 2) https://forum.adaware.com/index.php?/topic/33145-getting-rid-of-secure-search/ 3) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1049990

All the above mentioned are very complicated for the user So I urge you to FIX this Issue as early as possible. As it is very annoying to have a unknown search engine without your consent. And Let me know as early as possible.

I have reinstalled the mozilla firefox early but it didn't worked for me. This Ad aware is hidden somewhere in my PC and it is difficult to remove as I have uninstalled the Lavasoft Web Companion from my PC earlier and then I noticed this problem.

AdAware or Web Companion from Lavasoft.

You can look for a file named dsengine.js in these locations. You should only find channel-prefs.js in the "defaults\pref" location. Any file found here apart from channel-prefs.js is suspicious. You can check the content of the file in a text editor (use open with and do not double-click the file).

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\

You can look for a file named dsengine.cfg in the main Firefox program folder.

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\

Delete the dsengine.js and dsengine.cfg files when present.

I am using a 64 bit machine.

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\ Found this file :-

0xphi3ajdlo.jss

After Opening it shows this:-

// The first line of this and the config file will always be ignored. Set default search for adaware users after consent pref("general.config.filename", "0xphi3ajdlo.cfg"); pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0);

Now what to do and how to proceed....

more options

Rename it with .old As well find this file : 0xphi3ajdlo.cfg as code points to it. You may have to boot to Safe Mode if it is in other parts of Windows.

Where I can find this file in my PC. Any probability or guesses or any clue. Where such kind of file can hide???

more options

No, I do not. If you have Windows 10 setup to index all files and folders and drives then stick the name into the Start Menu Search and have it look for it.

The other is to go to the Malwarebytes Forum and have the Pros help you out.

You may have already uninstalled that file.
