forwarded messages don't appear in sent folder
forwarded arrow shows on the message in the inbox, but the forwarded message does not show up in the sent folder so I have no record of what comments I may have made when I forwarded the message

Thanks for the try. I think it may have something to do with the link to my google account. It has a sent file and an imap sent file. Between the two of them they show the forwarded messages. Is there any way to get them both to show in Thunderbird, preferably combined in one sent file?
I started writing instructions to fix it, but really this is a bit complicated, if new mail goes to one folder and forwarded mail goes to the other you must be using two different SMTP send accounts (I think) which mails are in which folder?
When I installed Thunderbird it would only go to an imap version of Gmail and not the pop3 account for some reason I don't have the expertise to fathom. However, I now have two sent accounts which will show in Thunderbird, one under the gmail heading, so, I can now find all my forwards by looking in both of them. Not totally wonderful, but l can live with it. I don't forward a lot of stuff so in the great scheme of life, it's bearable. Thanks for your effort. gmh
