Password Manager not prompting to save or change passwords
Quantum in its most recent versions has simply stopped prompting for new or changed passwords on Mac OS X, even though all the correct boxes are ticked or unticked. This is really annoying as my memory is failing and I count on the password manager to save and update all my passwords. The ones which were saved in past versions of Firefox are still there, but anything that is from a new website or has been changed isn't. I can mostly change the updated ones manually, but can't put in new websites and their passwords myself. What am I doing wrong?

Hello there. Are you using a password manager add-on or program?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Hello Gumrat,
Would you please go over these articles to see if maybe you can find the answer there :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/usernames-and-passwords-are-not-saved
And :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-and-import
Does that help ?
Thank you for your answer, McCoy but I should have said in my original post that I had done everything suggested on the Mozilla pages before posting my question here, short of creating a new profile which I will do as a last resort, if I have to.

I have asked somebody else to take a look at this .....
Thank you, I look forward to finding out if this problem can be solved. I'd be happier to risk creating a new profile if the old Password Exporter add-on was available for me to save my passwords in a .csv file, but it's not.

Thank you, FredMcD, you are right - unfortunately for my incipient dementia and poor typing skills, it is clear from using safe mode that my password reader add-on was in conflict with Quantum's password manager. Is there a way round this, would you know?
I didn't suggest Safe Mode, as it is mentioned in one of the articles
I gave you a link to.
You said that you had already done everything suggested on those pages ......
McCoy - you've got me bang to rights, I am a seriously demented idiot, I actually had meant to do Safe Mode a while back and had thought it was probably the password reveal add on, but then promptly forgot about it all. I'm sorry. I think I was in denial as I find the password reveal add on so useful and was hoping there was another way out!
Don't put yourself down like that - I totally understand !
Now, you go and have yourself some Happy Holidays !
