How do I add wallpaper to the Firefox browser tabs?

more options

I've selected pretty images to display as background wallpaper on Chrome and Opera browser tabs, but I cannot find how to do this on Firefox browser tab. All I found were extensions to download where you can't pick your own picture.

- How can I just upload a wallpaper image? The plain white background is so boring.  :(

For example, on Chrome, click the little cog on the bottom right and select "upload an image". On Opera, right click anywhere on an empty tab and select "change wallpaper" and a slider pops out where you can pick an image from your computer.

I don't think there is an option to add a background image to the built-in "new tab" / "Firefox Home" page. For a couple years now, the most common workaround would be this add-on:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/

It may also be possible to inject a background image into the page using a custom style rule in an optional file named userContent.css. However, that's not very flexible, so if you might want to change the image conveniently from time to time, an add-on probably is a better bet.
