That is a new feature that I am not familiar with so there's probably other reasons for that feature that hasn't come to mind yet. Like posted above, this is for refreshing the list of connected devices to update for possible changes if you keep the page open for a longer time, just like you do for refreshing an email list to get new emails showing.
