IMAP spam folder displays unread messages. How to make them auto read?
Hi, my email provider has it's own spam filters and creates additional folder inside Inbox for spam (see screenshot). The problem is that messages inside that folder are unread and I always have notifications about them. But it's SPAM, I don't want to see bold Inbox name because of it :)
It doesn't change a thing when in the options, under Junk, when I tick the checkbox Mark messages determined to be Junk as read, because I think that checbox is meant for Thunderbird junk filters, not for IMAP.
Browsed all the web - couldn't find an answer that works. If there's no fix I'll need to switch to POP account which does not have this problem.

You could always unsubscribe to the spam folder. If you right-click the spam folder, Properties, is the box 'When getting new messages....' checked?
No, the "When getting new messages.." box under properties is not checked..
If you right click on Spam folder, is there an option called 'Mark folder read' ?
I have this option on both Pop and Imap Spam / Junk folders.
Toad-Hall, I'm doing this every day :)) But I don't want to! I want Thunderbird to mark spam messages read for me.
Check your account's email settings from a browser (not Thunderbird) and see what options are available regarding how spam is handled. You could also unsubscribe from that subfolder and it won't appear in the folder pane anymore. Also, who is your email provider?
Smart move! But tried to find anything on the webmail - no luck. Email provider is my local hosting company. Will try to contact them, maybe they will be able to help.
I don't want to unsubscribe from that subfolder, because I need to take a glance in there sometimes when some important mail gets lost there :)
Interesting fact - Apple mail app on my iphone does not show spam messages as unread.

Not knowing what interface is being used by your provider to give you control over your domain, it's hard to give any specific directions on the matter. You can check if it allows you to create global filters or account-specific filters that use the spam status of a message to redirect/move/deliver them to a Spam or Junk folder which is not a subfolder of the inbox.
