Default position for new child tabs

I used to be that if you clicked a link and "Opened in a New Tab" that this child tab would appear to the right of all existing tabs.

In the later versions of FF, these child tabs are inserted directly after the parent tab that created them.

This may make logic sense to some people but, maybe because I'm dyslexic, position is critical and all my existing tabs beyond this child have just been moved up one place, which I find very confusing.

I often Open a New Tab for temporary tangents, so I don't lose my place in an existing page, but this means that my primary tabs are tromboning right and left as I open/close.

Is there a parameter that I can change in Config to set the behaviour back to adding new tabs to the end of the list?

Hi

There are two prefs available on the about:config page that control this behavior. You probably want to set them both to false.

  • browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent
  • browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".

Thanks for the rapid and perfect response.

browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent was already set to False Switching browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent fixed my problem
