I'm stuck using microsoft edge and I feel so icky and out of place. All I did was download a video a name brand video editing program from their site, then uninstall it, then use a register cleaner (cc cleaner) to fix registry problems. Now Firefox will open but none of the buttons will work! All functionality gone! Even after cold reboot and reinstall of Firefox!

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019":

You may not need the latter (32-bit version) if you use 64-bit Firefox. You may have to reboot the computer.

I'm not doing all that stuff. If I have to read articles and look up stuff I'm just going to use Microsoft Edge. It already has all my bookmarks and more importantly, my bookmark tool bar with all the passwords saved. I was with you a long time Firefox but you don't work anymore for reasons unknown. Good show old friend, good show. If you ever work again, I'll come back.

When you removed the other program, the VCRUNTIME files may have been removed or corrupted. The links above will help you to reinstall that software. Otherwise, no Firefox.

Thank you Cor-el, son of Krypton for the links. Thank you Fred for making it all make sense, and for haunting our dreams with a claw of razorblades or was that Freddie? I don't even know anymore. If this doesn't work I'm just going to go back to Netscape navigator and use excite.com as my default search engine.

I apologize if my facetious reply was not funny. You genuinely helped me and quickly.

(Firefox is the second best next to Netscape navigator. Now I have to take my dog for a walk)
