lLogin to server imap.googlemail.com with username *******@gmail.com failed
Windows 7 64 bit. I've been running TBird for almost as long as it's been available. I have two Gmail accounts. Last night TBird was working for both accounts. This morning, when I booted the computer, I got the failure message in the subject line, for only one of the two gmail accounts; the other works fine. I used the popup to re-type my password (multiple tries), with no luck. I then tried the gmail webpage to view that account's emails; it worked fine. I then logged out of the account using the gmail web page, and manually typed in the password and it worked.
The only thing I can think of that has changed is that last night I had an issue with Youtube (automatically charging my paypal account) which uses the same email address that I'm now having issues with, so on the advice of Youtube tech help, I turned on two-step verification. Will this cause TBird to fail its login process?
Thanks for any assistance,
Charlie

UPDATE: I entered the settings for that email account, and removed two-step verification. TBird now logs into the account without any issues.
Updated question: Is there a TBird 'fix' to allow it to work with gmail when two-step verification is turned on? Note that even with it on, I was able to log out, and log back in using the gmail web page in Chrome, without needing a text message '2nd step'. Charlie
Change the servers to imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com, and change the authentication method on both to OAuth2. Check that cookies are accepted in TB Preferences, remove the passwords from Saved Passwords in Preferences, then restart TB and enter the account password in the OAuth window to allow TB access.
OAuth authentication will work with 2-step, although there might be an extra step in the process where you enter a code sent by SMS.
Many thanks!
