Firefox 3.6.3 does not save any history, does not save passwords. I have read the forum and checked my settings (ok), started in Safe mode (still does not work).
Firefox 3.6.3 does not save history, nor passwords. I have read the forum and checked my settings in Privacy (all ok), I restarted Firefox in Safe mode (it still does not remember history or passwords). Running on XP. I think these problems started when I upgraded to 3.6.3.

FF 3.6.3 is not remembering any of the settings that I input into my plugins -- ForecastFox, Google toolbar, etc...
Today is the third day that I have experienced this issue.
I need to add that another problem is that Firefox is loading very slowly when first turned on in the morning. Once it is running it works fine (except for not remembering). It took Firefox 1 minute 15 seconds to start to open this morning, then showing a script error box "Script:chrome://fflinkfilter/content/IKavLinkFilterSyncObj.js.11" . I can click on "cancel" or "continue", and Firefox opens within about 15 seconds.
Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie that you must allow: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the 'Cookies' and the 'Site Preferences'.

I mean passwords are not remembered in the Password manager when I am entering them on various websites. This happens when I remain on Firefox and go back to the website, or if I close and restart Firefox. It also happens when I am operating Firefox in Safe mode. Also the history of my web browsing is also not being recorded. Also Firefox loads very slowly when 1st starting in the morning.
In Tools>Options>Privacy>Cookies:"Exceptions" I entered in just now the websites and still the password is not remembered. I have selected: 'Remember browsing history for at least 25 days", "Remember download history", "Remember search & form history", "Accept cookies from sites; accept third party cookies until they expire". I have looked at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_Manager, but it does solve the problem.
My above entry should read: I have looked at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_Manager, but it NOT solve the problem.
I'm still not sure what you mean. Did you save or tried to save those passwords in the password manager? Do you get a bar at the top asking if you want to remember that password?
If you place a check mark is a box on a web page to remember you then that choice is saved in a cookie. If such a choice isn't kept then you have a problem with the cookies.
Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode. In PB mode no history is kept and no new passwords can be stored and all cookies are session cookies that expire if you exit that session or close Firefox.
You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing". See Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_Private_Browsing
See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks_history_and_toolbar_buttons_not_working_-_Firefox
You can look at these prefs on the about:config page. http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days (180) (also affects saved form data) http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days_min (90)
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
I'm also having the problem where Firefox is not asking to remember my password? And I made sure that the box "Remember password for sites" is checked.
Same here - when I installed 3.6.3 on a new laptop (HP G60 64-bit, Win 7) it would not remember (or even ask if it should remember) login & password info.
some help with this issue
Cor-el, Yes, I get a bar at the top asking me if I want Firefox to remember the password. I click yes, logout of site, login again and voila I have to enter my user name and password again. Firefox did not remember it.
I am not in Private Browsing.
I looked at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks_history_and_toolbar_buttons_not_working_-_Firefox I closed Firefox, went into the Profile folder, renamed the sqlite files (2), re-opened Firefox. Firefox to 40 seconds to open, and did not remember any of 3 different website password I used.
I looked at http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.history_expire_days but it did not solve the problem of slow initial loading and no remembering of passwords.
"you have a problem with the cookies." What do I do about this?
Also, I opened about:config. Now what?
Sorry for the delay in replying.
Did Firefox respond by closing the bar at the top if you click the Remember button?
Do you see those saved names and passwords in the Password Manager? Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
Firefox did not close the bar at the top after I had clicked "Remember"
I see no saved names and passwords in the Password Manager.
I previously looked at and worked with the information at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_Manager but to no avail.
I do not even get the bar asking me if I want FF to remember the login info. It's like the function is not active. I even reinstalled it and the new install did the same thing.
Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Remember passwords for sites"
Make sure that you not run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode. In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working. You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing". See Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_Private_Browsing ..... You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History" To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
Yes, thanks, you already brought that up, and I have checked everything suggested here. The software is buggy - it's not a settings issue.
I wonder if it's a 64-bit problem? I thought I saw Barbara mention something about running on a 64-bit machine but I cannot find it anymore.
Just to clarify, I do not have a 64 bit machine.
Barbara
As I suspected.
So does anyone from Mozilla answer questions here?
I had the same problem after an upgrade to 3.6.3.
I was using password manager for a number of web sites before. Not using cookies but password manager.
After 3.6.3 auto upgrade it did not work.
I could not enter private browsing mode.
When I looked in tools>options>security at my saved passwords the list was blank. The button in the saved passwords dialog that normally says "Show saved passwords" was actually blank (the button was there but there was no text on it).
I did have my old bookmarks and was able to create new ones but oddly the bookmark all tabs menu function wouldn't work.
I decided to reinstall firefox 3.6.3. There is no way something with that many bugs got out!
I was able to get the full firefox executable from http://mozilla.com
I closed all firefox windows and ran the installation.
After re-running the install and starting firefox everything was fine. It must have been a bad download or the original install got messed up somehow.
I hope you have the same good fortune I had!
I did the same thing (new full install) and it did not work.
