Are my settings being saved?
Firefox 3.6.9
I've accessed a new charting website, customized a chart type but when I go back to it the customization hasn't been saved. I've been advised it shd be saved in my cookies.
When I go to Tools, options, privacy it says 'Firefox will remember history'. If I change this to Use custom settings for history, make changes and click Ok. If boxes 'remember my...', remember down...', remember search...', 'accept cookies ....' & '3rd party....' are ticked when I go back in it says 'Firefox will remember history' i.e. nothing has changed but if I untick one of them then go back in it says 'Use custom settings for history'. If I go back in and re tick the item then next time it has reverted to 'Remember history'.
Is this right or am I doing something wrong?
Is this what is causing the cookies not to be saved?

If Firefox reverts to "Remember History" then that means that all history settings are the default and that should be keeping cookies. The custom setting only stays selected if at least one setting is not the default.
Such details are stored in a cookie.
You must allow that cookie (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions), especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Thanks for your suggestions unfortunately this didn't resolved it. I contacted the service provider [Not ISP] for the website service in question and they have changed the 'save' feature, namely removed it which is why it's not working. Pity the manual hadn't been updated!
Thanks again
