After updating Firefox Blogger won't let me post and special characters disappear
After I updated to the latest Firefox, I can't post articles in Blogger. If I copy and paste the text and image, then sometimes it will post...if I even make changes on older posts it still won't let me post. If I just post text, then it will let me post!

Hello eleanorjay,
This sounds like a compatibility issue .
Had you no warnings , whilst upgrading ?
Something like "missing dependency's" ?
What happens when you reinstall the former version ?
Or even better , can you do an update on the original browser ?
(I think on your OS X 10.6 that would be Liferia ,not to sure)
Try and give a reply here , it could be both ways wrong .
Greetings

Dear Martin, thank you for your suggestion and I will give it a try. I haven't changed anything on my notebook Mac or desktop Mac except upgrading Firefox so I'm guessing that is the common denominator! Anyway, I can only post text onto my blog posts and not any images. I did try to change to the new editor and you'll see from the attached picture, the editor just goes schizo so I changed back to the old one and then no images only text. Funny though, if I copy and paste everything (including pix) it can post, but this isn't a solution because all the images are out of sync. Also on my computers I can't see the special characters in the text, although if you view the blogs on Safari you can! Also, I tried posting from safari and still no pix! It's all very weird. I've never had any problems before and have at least 15 blogs with all levels on modified coding - I'm really frustrated because I need to blog!
ps - this message is what flashes up when I try to post with a picture!

Hello again eleanorjay ,
when you uninstall Firefox , what happens ?
As you mentioned above that Safari won't do the posting either , then the problem isn't with Safari or Firefox .
Maybe , you have some configuration setting , witch prevents any browser from uploading photos .
When your PC is behind a server (proxy or firewall etc...) it could be them who limit the upload when presented in http or blogger format.
There are a lot of possible causes . To find out , you'll need to go step by step .
First , uninstall Firefox , then upgrade Safari and blogger . This will also install the newest libraries.
See wat happens , at your place and connection , and probably do also a test on an other location .
Also , for the special characters , think twice before using them !
For an example , when I haven't Mandarin char's installed on my PC , either I get scrambled eggs , ... or nothing to look at .
The same for most char sets , its even more complicated than at first glance , they need to be compatible for the Operating System in use AND with the sender's call .
That's the reason why I ask to upgrade Safari and Blogger , they will call in the newest (most universal) fonts & chars and more .
Let me know , and good luck .
Greetings

Dear Martin - hi again. Well I think the Firefox update has definitely affected the special character sets although I can still see the 'arrows' on the post title! But we have figured out, through modifying the coding when we post, a way to still make it work...it's not the smoothest way to post, but still do-able.
I will upgrade Safari and see if this has an impact on Firefox. Many thanks for your help and interest - technology really is crazy...strange how no-one else seems to have had this problem though because there must be loads of people using new Firefox to run their Blogger blogs!
Best wishes Eleanor
your welcome
"technology really is crazy... "
Well , its not technology being crazy , its people and their avarice .
Historically , at the birth and availability from OS 's , say 20 y ago , they fought each other to the dead .
To protect and promote their proprietary software , they did all the possible , to make things NOT interchangeable .
Internet wasn't widely spread , and thus not in their mindset .
Some people had a sometimes working computer .
Was not connected , but they could do some layout , or mathematics or whatever .
When need be , they could send a FLOPPY by post , and get it back with the remark from receiver : UNREADABLE on my system .
Sometimes they could "translate" their coding , with a mostly expensive program (guess who makes & sells it) and send de floppy again .
You see , we are left with their legacy and struggling .
The ideal world would mean : scrap the old junk and start again .

I've had lots of problems with firefox and blogger... well, the same problem for a long time, and no one seems to be able to help me. I cannot view the list of webfonts available in blogger. I can with Internet explorer, though.
