I cannot play the videos on the Reuters site. They state in help:

Our video redesign included new functionality which requires Flash "wmode" transparency support. Unfortunately, Adobe's Flash Player has a bug on Linux systems which causes this particular piece of core functionality to not work. It's a commonly known issue among the Linux community, caused originally by problems on both the Mozilla and Adobe sides. Firefox fixed the issue on their side with the release of Firefox 3. The next version of Flash Player (10) will include a fix for this transparency issue. The beta version of the player can be found here. http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/ http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/releasenotes.html#features (under "Other Community Requested Enhancements")

I am using Shockwave Flash add-on 10.1.102.64 I use AdBlock too.

Can I fix this problem?

TIA, Walt

I use AdBlock too.

That message only applies to older Flash versions. The current Flash 10.1 versions don't that that problem with wmode anymore.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Still have problems with Adobe Flash Player. Now video opens, but the Settings window does too, and I can't close it. BUT, if I close process- plugin-container.exe- then everything if fine. Some more work to do in version 4.

That was interesting and I enabled Flash, although, by now the videos were working.. The problem that I had was that when the video started up so did the Adobe Setting window. The Setting window opened but I could not shut it down. The answer was: In Win7, go to user, AppData, Roaming, Adobe and delete the Flash Player directory, then down to Macromedia and delete the Flash Player directory there. So far it's working. Walt
