is Firefox Mobile compatible with HTC Droid Eris running 2.1?
Hi guys, I have an HTC Droid Eris running Android 2.1 I tried clicking the link that says "download Firefox Mobile for Android" from my phone and got an error message "item not found". So, does Firefox Mobile require Android 2.2 to work? Will it ever run on my Droid Eris? Thanks!

Sorry, Firefox 4 beta is not compatible with the HTC Droid Eris. For details, and experimental version you can try on the Droid Eris, see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
Hmmm, well I never said anything about trying to run Firefox 4 Beta on my phone, not sure where you got that idea?
And like I said before, when I click (from my phone) the link at firefox.com/m/ that says "for Android" it says "the item you requested cannot be found". I've got an AMRv7 processor (I think) and Android 2.1 so what's the deal?
I was just more or less reporting that "hey guys, FYI this doesn't work on an HTC Droid Eris". Hopefully there will be a solution to this problem in the future.
Oops, upon further reading I saw this: For devices with ARMv6 processors, like the HTC Hero, Legend, Droid Eris, Wildfire, or Samsung Moment. (See below for a longer list of phones.)
New: ARMv6 builds are broken for the last few weeks on some or all devices. See this bug for details and please comment there if you can provide more information.
I guess my Droid Eris has a ARMv6 processor, not a v7. I'll look into this known bug and see if I can help provide any further info to the developers.

Right, your Droid Eris has an ARM v6 processor and can not run Firefox Mobile beta. See System requirements for Android.
It seems that this is not just a beta issue. Mozilla is not going to produce a build for the ARM v6.
Where can the source code be downloaded so that the community that has an interest in this can work on it?
See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Fennec/Android for instructions on getting the source code and building Fennec. We'd be very happy to accept patches that fix bugs on ARMv6 devices!
To build for ARMv6, add "--disable-thumb2" to your configure arguments. (There's a line you can uncomment to do this, in the sample "mozconfig" file on the wiki page.)
