Is there a way to keep my "Bookmarks" folder from automatically closing whenever I click a bookmarked site?

The most frustrating thing about Firefox is that the "Bookmarks" folder automatically closes itself whenever I click a bookmarked site. I would like the "Bookmarks" folder to behave like the "Favorites" folder does in IE... I want it to stay open on the left side of the screen, with the site I just clicked highlighted, until I manually close it. And when I re-open it, I want the last site I clicked to still be highlighted. I have hundreds of bookmarks organized into folders, with some folders deep inside others, and I lose my place in the "tree" every time the folder closes itself. This small difference in the way Firefox handles bookmarks is the only reason I still use IE.

Never mind, I found the "Sidebar" trick (View - Sidebar - Bookmarks) right after I posted this question. Now all I have to do is figure out how to change the color of the highlighted text so I can see it better. Thanks all.

Oh, and my silhouette doesn't really look like a cat, I promise.  :)
