Firefox keeps locking up. Downloaded latest version mid Sept. Since then get not responding many times. I reloaded older version of Firefox but that didn't seem to help. Almost everytime upon loading, then starting to enter a search name a box comes up with s04.cltrda.com/sc?p....... many more characters on the address totaling over 100. What is this? How do I get rid of this? Al

check your recently installed programs under control panel. Remove 'rival gaming' and any other gaming type software that may have recently been installed. This worked for me. It happened to me with Chrome and Firefox.

This thing appears to be linked to Yahoo Tool Bar. Yet removal doesn't get this puppy to go away. Trying more scanners but no luck yet.

I did send an e-mail to Microsoft to their Security Team. We shall see what they can do.

Since posting this I have found that in trying to download the game Angry Birds you had to download Livingplay text links. Once this was disabled Firefox works great. You can find this under Tools, add ons. I disabled it there. Couldn't find a way to uninstall it. Just won't enable it again.

Well, I was having another issue as well as this, but I did manage to get rid of this pain. I rebooted into safe mode with networking, uninstalled Firefox, used IE (disdainfully) to download a newer Firefox, rebooted normally and installed the newer version. It's gone for now, but I was wondering- does anyone know where this originated?

Thank you, lipeters! I also had the very annoying and very frequent "s04.clrtda" popups! They appeared almost every time I moved the mouse, which meant it happened every few seconds. I had also discovered that clicking on links in several of my favorite websites redirected me to some very strange places. This only happened while using Firefox. My husband did not have a problem when he used AOL. I checked my pop-up blocking options and ran a full Norton scan. No change.

After trying everything I could think of to block pop-ups I went to the place I should have checked first (!!) and I found lipeters solution above. I then remembered that I had downloaded "Rival Games" just a few days ago and that seemed to be when the problems began.

Rival Games appeared on my Zap2it TV listings screen and appeared to be an opportunity to download "Angry Birds." I should have been suspicious when it also wanted to add a new tool bar (I didn't do that). I didn't find Angry Birds or any other game that I wanted to add and promptly forgot about it.

Using "Revo Uninstall" I was able to remove the program using their most thorough uninstall choice. I haven't had the popups since I did that. And links appear to be working correctly.

I should also note that I am a senior citizen who doesn't understand computer lingo so I am grateful for the concise and clear directions from lipeters.

Question: What damage might have been done while I had the problem? Spyware? Stealing data?
