Disable auto-rename if download file already exists?
Clean install of version 13, all new default profile, no add ons, no changes made at all.
Firefox is renaming downloaded files rather than alerting you to an preexisting file with the same name. If however I right click and save as, it will alert, and ask if I want to overwrite.
I know this automatic renaming can be disabled as I have a profile that goes way back in time, to like FF ver 3.0, that has been updated over time to work with the latest version 13, and it always asks if you want to overwrite. However, I would like to start with an all new profile and it appears that this renaming feature is active by default.
→ Can someone tell me where the setting is to put an stop to automatic renaming?
I followed the advice in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/859087 with no change in behavior.

It should work if you choose to ask for the download location.
- Tools > Options > General : Downloads : "Always ask me where to save every file"

And so it does, thank you very much!
Your assistance is greatly appreciated. I had no idea FF could even do auto-renaming, not sure how I would ever use it.
