When I play a video on facebook, I will get sound, but just a blank screen.. On youtube, everything works as it should. In google chrome, everything works as it should on both youtube and facebook.

Facebook videos will work if I choose "start again without add-ons" from the help menu, and then selects safe mode.

I have tried to disable all of the add-ons when I use firefox normally, but it dosn't help.

How can I fix this?

Thanks! Turning off hardware acceleration worked for me :)

To anyone else who might have the same problem, here is exactly what I did to solve it:

1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options

  2. Select the Advanced panel
  3. Select the General tab
  4. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration where available.
  5. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (File menu in Windows XP) and then click Exit. Start Firefox normally.

I am having similar problem on a Mac. Snow Leopard iMac. Firefox 17.0.1 Current Flash 11.5. Can watch videos fine on u-tube and Safari. But on Facebook in Firefox where I always used to be able to watch videos just fine, I now just get a black screen and what appears to be endless loading and no sound. Even with a mere 30-second video of my own, which others can watch, I can no longer watch this or any other video on Facebook.

I tried unchecking the disable hardware acceleration thing and quitting and restarting Firefox. Problem remained.

Is the solution to give up on Firefox and use another browser??

Below is screen shot of one of the problem videos, my own video uploaded to my own Facebook page, but the problem is all videos on Facebook and Facebook only and with Firefox 17.0.1 only. OS X.6.8 Flash 11.5
