Hello Edmeister

Thank you very much for writing back with the link to the page I had used to install HDS Link Detector.

I had read the the summary of what the HDS Link Detector is capable doing & installed it as a add-on as previously mentioned. It is listed as successfully installed in my "Tools" > "Add-ons" drop-down menu. The problem is, there is no way of using the HDS Link detector without knowing how to access it. The icon at the bottom right of the window simply reads "enabled" OR "disabled" when it is clicked onto. It does not activate any new window to appear when clicked - so there must be another method of appearing. There is nothing to click in the Mozilla/Firefox browser that brings me to the HDS window depicted on your "Add-Ons" page, required to download. It seems logical that once I get to the website I wish to be able to download from, there should be something visible to click onto so the HDS Link Detector can put file being viewed on line, into segments for downloading, but my screen has no new additions to click onto, other than the bottom right corner HDS icon.

The "Review" section of the Add-On HDS page indicates a "Pop-Up" window will appear when one goes to the streaming site, but there is no pop up or any deviation to the site when it is visited. The Add-on summary page also says it will copy the text to the "clipboard", but there is no indication where a "clipboard" can be located. Perhaps the ability to get "Pop-Ups" is necessary & there's a way to adjust? If there are actual instructions on how to use, or if there is something additional that should be downloaded, I'm happy to install it as well.

Thank you very much for any info.,

Joe

Ensure that you have no popup/ad blocking add-on.

original question thread is here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/974559 - please read the Google search for HDS Link Detector articles, as mentioned in your question thread

Each add-on developer is responsible for supporting their own add-ons, either in the basic description of the add-on or in About this Add-on, or thru a Homepage or Support Site link in the right-column of the download page. Some don't provide enough information, or they assume a basic level of competency.

The "Clipboard" is a basic Windows service. It is a temporary holding area for the items you've cut or copied.

Thank you very much Computer Whiz. I suspected the the pop-ups should be allowed & I made saure the box was not blocking in"Tools> Unfortunately I went back to CBC Archives on line but the window had no change. There was no "pop-up" from HDS Link Detector. The video clip just played as it normally does in the "on-line" player. The HDS icon in the lower right hand corner of the window is red (meaning"enabled", so it seems the "pop0up" should appear when I go to the CBC site. Maybe it's an extra difficult video to get a pop-up? I don't know how those other guys manged to download the video using HDS Link Detector. Here is the link to the video that I've tried to capture for a year: http://www.cbc.ca/player/Digital+Archives/CBC+Programs/Television/Tabloid/ID/1404668920/ Anyway, THANKS very much for the courtesy in trying to be so helpful. Best wishes!

Is this an unsolvable problem?? Since the HDS link Detector is in the lower right hand corner - it is apparently correctly installed. AND there is no pop-up blocker. Should HDS be removed & then re-installed? Does HDS work with something else, such as Google Chrome?? Is there something else to install that works - which will help download the videos from the On-line player (CBC Archives)?? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks again!

You can try removing and reinstalling to see if that will work.
Unfortunately, the add-on developer has not provided a support page or method of contact, making it impossible to seek support.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and we hope that you will continue to browse with us here on Mozilla Firefox.
