I'm not able to learn anything specific from the most recent crash report, and the previous one unfortunately the crash reporter wasn't able to capture some of the information. The others seem to be from 3 weeks ago or earlier.

A couple general suggestions:

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

I don't know whether Gmail uses Flash, but as a diagnostic tool, try setting Flash to Click-to-Play ("Ask to Activate"). This will delay Flash from starting on a page until you approve it.

To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".

When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.

I would try to keep it disabled on google.com (or your local Google site) as long as possible.

Just to confirm something in your post, when you say you disabled add-ons, did you try Gmail in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash and other plugins still run)

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference? (Apologies in advance for all the annoying things you normally suppress with your extensions...)

Thank you very much for your elaborate suggestions. I will try these and get back. Tx

I have been using ccleaner to exclude removal of cookies related to gmail. This is because I have 2 step verification activated and doing the above saves me the hassle of entering the verification code again and again. I have disabled this now, let's see if this resolves the problem. Thanks.
