>They sent me back this\; This error means that you are trying to use Cogeco’s email server while you are no longer in a Cogeco area. In order to send email, you can use either our webmail feature at http://webmail.cogeco.ca, or temporarily change your email program (ie Windows Live, Outlook) to use the correct SMTP server provided by the ISP servicing your current location. You'll want to change it back to SMTP.cogeco.ca upon your return home.
If you continue to have difficulty, you can contact Cogeco Tech Support From anywhere in North America at 1-800-267-90 |I phoned them and because I can send from their web based email service, they think it is a Thunderbird problem. By the way \i was out of Canada when \i trier to send my first email message.

Web based email service and SMTP, POP and IMAP service use different servers. Stating that because the web mail works it is not their problem is total malarkey.
Tell them to give you the correct SMTP settings for when off network. Then input those into Thunderbird.
So I guess if they want to blame Thunderbird they can. You do not have the correct server settings in it because they have not provided them to you.
I am now at home and get the same error message when I try to send an email.
