when I click on the gear in add-ons to select reset all add-ons to update manually, NO checkmark shows and firefox deletes Kaspersky Protection icon
I really enjoy the older version of Firefox, because i REFUSE to use my computer without Kaspersky. got it? > Kaspersky is MORE important to me than Firefox (G.Chrome is my backup)
I now have KIS 2016, and I like its hexagonal icon, showing attempts it is blocking (it is set to block). Firefox has 3 times now REMOVED this icon, yet shows that the Kaspersky Protection is still an enabled add-on. I have had to uninstall KIS 2016 3 times to get this icon back. When I click on the gear to select the bottom choice "reset all add-ons to update manually", nothing happens. No checkmark shows, In Options/ Advanced I have selected "never check for updates". I am getting tired of wasting my time re-installing KIS 2016 to get this icon back. In about:config I have toggled FALSE to app.update.auto, app.update.enable and app.update.silent. What can be done besides removing Firefox? (I will NOT install the newest Firefox because it is incompatible with KIS).

You are using a version of Firefox that is very old, please update to the latest version, Update Firefox to the latest release. Kapersky drops support for old versions of Firefox, so if you don't update you are liable to run into weird issues, not to mention the many security bugs in old versions of Firefox.
Then, make sure you are using the latest version of Kapersky, and then use Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars to add the kapersky icon to Firefox's toolbars.

It is not Firefox that is compatible or incompatible but the other way.
Also your Kaspersky software itself is still running normally and not affected by Firefox.
Done. Thanks!! :)
....and everything is still working perfectly! I wouldn't have bothered asking if the 2014 new Firefox wasn't having probs with Kaspersky [and Kaspersky has for some years only helped me]. B.t.w., my friend had problems running Kaspersky, which I re-installed via Firefox: it turned out that unbeknownst to her, her local "computer expert" had installed SpyBot to get rid of malware and that prevented running K'sky. I had to dig out up to seemingly 60 hidden entries in the registry, and it seemed like many of them were like holograms, each containing enough of the rest to reinstall if ALL were not eliminated. MANY diff. registry "names" and hiding places for the SpyBot, and so far as I am concerned SpyBot is itself malware! Gone now, finally.
