Please can you tell me how I restore more than 10 lost bookmarks?
Yesterday I turned on my computer after a 3 month absence and Firefox said 'Hi' to me and asked me to up-date, which I did (to Firefox 42). However, in the proceess of doing this it deleted years of saved bookmarks which are like my personal library and incredibly omportant to me. Your help would be appreciated. Just so as you know I've done the following: 1) I opened Profile Manager and checked all 3 profiles there (none created by me). One default profile selected shows me the old Firefox interface and gives me bookmarks up until about 4 years ago. The other two default profiles give the new FF42 interface and zero bookmarks. 2) I've looked at your 'tips' on how to restore lost bookmarks, but it only tells me how to restore the last 10 bookmarks. 3) I notice on your support blog that this has been a problem before and see notes from others who have lost all their bookmarks following an up-grade. I look forward to your help. crepesuzette

I assume that this is about restoring a JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder. The name of a JSON bookmarks backup file includes a total item count (folders and separators included) and an hash value to prevent saving the same backup more than once.
- bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.jsonlz4.
Are there any backups that have a plausible bookmark count?
Did you look if there is an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case you have done a Refresh/Reset.Firefox?
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
