When I want to write an email, I write the first couple of letters from a contact’s name but Thunderbird shows me the contacts in a completely different order. It seems to show other names that contain those same letters but in the last name.

For example: if I were looking to write an email for Peter Adams and I typed “Pe” in the To: bar, it would show me contacts like Andrew Peters or Benjamin Penn before any of the actual Peters, Pedros or Pe....etcetera.

How can I solve this issue please? I have tried changing the orders in the address book. Nothing works

Unfortunately, there is little control over the autocomplete algorithm, but you can narrow the results by entering more letters, e.g. pet would eliminate some in your example.

Another option is to install MoreFunctionsForAddressBook and create an address book with frequent recipients, and then have autocomplete search only that address book.

The thing is, I have thunderbird installed on another computer, with the same settings and address books (I have exported and imported them) and in that computer it does work fine. There should be some sort of option for this shouldn’t there?
