How to increase font size using "font.size" strings ?
Thunderbird message font size has been small lately & this happened around the time of one of latest 68.x.x updates. If I send an email from Profile A the sent email copy in A is small. If I send email to Profile B then its received email is also small.
Using Alt “+” increases the font size but the setting doesn’t stick. If I close & reopen TB the text is back to small.
I went into Tools > Options > Display and increased the Default font size in both Profiles, but this appears to only change the font in the email that I’m composing. If I send the email from A to B, the copy in A’s sent folder & the received email in B both still have small fonts.
Did some Googling & someone said to go into Tools > Options > Advanced > Config Editor. Search for “font.size” and look for strings that have been modified & change the settings back to Default. I reset them but that didn’t seem to make any difference.
I have 6 Thunderbird profiles but A & B are the most used. I looked at all of them in the Advanced > Config Editor > font.size. A lot of strings appear to be for foreign fonts, but I focused on the ones with “unicode” and “western” in their names.
Profiles A & B had font.size.monospace.x-Unicode, font.size.monospace.x-western, font.size.variable.x-Unicode, and font.size.variable.x-western.
The other 4 had font.size.fixed.x-Unicode, font.size.fixed.x-western, font.size.variable.x-Unicode, and font.size.variable.x-western.
I added the “fixed” strings to A & B and also used the modified values of 14 so that they would be like the other 4 profiles. So far everything looks “normal”. But was this OK to do or is this going to create a problem somewhere?
In A & B, should I delete font.size.monospace.x-Unicode and font.size.monospace.x-western because none of the other 4 profiles have those strings?
I can’t find anything that discusses “font.size”. Which strings should be included?. Do I need “fixed” or “variable” or the ones that don’t indicate either? Apparently I don 't all 3 versions. Why would two profiles have different sets of strings than the others?
Any comments & suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Tools/Options/Display/Formatting/Fonts & Colors/Advanced, set the fonts and sizes with Fonts for: Latin and repeat with Fonts for: Other Writing Systems. The sizes are in pixels, which are about 50% smaller than points. Uncheck 'Allow messages to use other fonts'.
Thank you for the reply.
Tools/Options/Display/Formatting/Fonts & Colors lists the Default font as Calibi, Size 17.
If I click on the Advanced tab it brings up the screen which lists the Fonts for Latin along with the drop down menu for Other Writing Systems. Am I to presume that Latin is the one I should keep using?
What are these four settings used for? If the Default is Calibri as mentioned above, what’s the significance of listing Cambria & Consolas? Proportional: Sans Serif Serif: Cambria Sans-Serif: Calibri Monospace: Consolas
If I Uncheck 'Allow messages to use other fonts', what happens when I receive a message with a different font? Are all my incoming messages going to look the same?

That setting is for viewing plain text messages.

If Latin is the language group of your system, keep it as Latin, but adjust the settings for any other groups you use. Other Writing Systems includes Unicode UTF-8.

The Default applies to plain text, the others to HTML.

If you want to view all messages according to the senders' formats, check the box. Uncheck it if you want to apply your custom settings.
