can not send or recieve email on thunderbird
I had to change my password on ATT.net. since then have not been able to send or receive email on thunderbird. Had no problem until changed password. Now I get a message: Enter your password for @att.net on inbound.att.net: I have never made passwords for inbound or outbound mail, nor have I been able to find any. my pass word for att. does not work. I have checked security settings, and saved login & passwords under privacy and security. I have uninstalled and reinstalled thunderbird. I tried setting up a new account, but it will not let me do that using the same information. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and may save my marriage. Thank you

Oh my goodness. I finally got a mil security key and was able to get mail on TB. Thank you Thank you Tank you. If Thunderbird and att.net both work tomorrow you will have saved my marriage. That was really hard. but I printed the directions, and if i need to I think I can delete it and make a new one. You are a doll. I really appreciate it. Linda

If the authentication on the account is 'normal password', you must use a secure mail key instead of a regular password. If you use a regular password, change the authentication to OAuth2.
I changed normal password to OAuth2 and got this message: The server does not support the selected authentication method. Please change the 'Authentication method' in the 'Account Settings | Server settings'. I am using a firefox browser
The Privacy & Security section of Firefox Options or Logins and Passwords has nothing to do with TB. Open TB Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, delete the old passwords, restart TB, and enter the new password when prompted if the authentication is OAuth2 in Server Settings, or a secure mail key if the authentication is normal password.
There were no saved passwords on TB. When I have OAuth2 in Server Settings, I get: The server does not support the selected authentication method. Please change the 'Authentication method' in the 'Account Settings | Server settings'. When I have normal password in place I get: Enter your password for @att.net on inbound.att.net: and to send an email I get: Enter you password for @att.net on outbound.att.net.
I do not know what a secure mail key is, or where to find it.
There is a link to secure mail key in the topic cited in my first reply.
