Did some housekeeping yesterday and deleted all the cookies Firefox had stored. Soon thereafter I discovered that I'm no longer able to log in at Scotiabank online. I'm immediately shunted to a "Sorry, we could not complete your request" screen. Scotiabank support blames the browser. I am able to log in as normal with Chrome. I've experimented extensively with turning off Enhanced Tracking Protection, erasing cache, deleting history, etc. I see my Firefox updated yesterday to 85.0.1. Wondering if that might be where the problem lies? I'm using MacOS High Sierra version 10.13.6. Thanks for any help.

Did you use builtin Firefox means to clear the cookies because external applications can cause files to get corrupted?

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I've had no luck.

I have been using only Firefox's built-in means to clear cookies.

I restarted Firefox in Safe Mode. I asked Firefox to Forget History for the site. I turned off Enhanced Tracking Protection by clicking the shield and moving the toggle to OFF.

No change--still get shunted to the "Sorry..." screen.

I also added the site URL to the Manage Exceptions list, marked ALLOW, in the Cookies and Site Data section.
