Why are bookmarks in firefox Android not searchable? Absolutely amazes me that that after so many years of existence such a basic feature in not available. Results from Google are displayed but not the results from one's own bookmarks?

You can search bookmarks from the address bar in Firefox for Android.
Please open the Firefox for Android menu, select Settings then Search before making sure that the bookmarks option is turned on.

The option you need to select is labelled "Search bookmarks".
