Do not open new window on startup
A couple of weeks ago, a message came from Firefox saying - do I want the facility of opening a Firefox window on starting it? I thought that would be a confirmation of my existing setting of opening Firefox with the previous tabs. But no. Firefox now opens a separate blank window in addition to the previous window with the tabs.
How can I stop the opening of an additional blank window, which I now have to delete everytime? Thank you

Does it still happen with all your extensions disabled?
Thank you. Looking at the extension page, it does not seem that there are any enabled.
I honestly do not know whether this is relevant because your change was very recent, but Firefox has a preference that controls whether to show a blank window quickly at startup. Mine is customized to turn that off, but I can't recall why. You could try turning it off on yours and see whether it makes any difference. Here's how:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future. Since we have had this setting for a long time and I use it myself, I feel comfortable mentioning it.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.startup.blankWindow and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from true to false
