Whenever I hit the ALT-key, Firefox backs up to the previous webpage as if I hit the back button. This only happens when the mouse pointer is over the web page window. If I move the pointer up to the tool bar, for instance, this issue no longer occurs. Really strange.

I also can't open drop down menus -- as soon as I click on them, they close back up. I don't have this problem in Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.

You may have a problem with a sticky cursor Left key that Firefox thinks is pressed (Alt = Left is to go back in the tab history).

Did you try to close and restart Firefox or reboot the computer to see if that helps?
