Today I opened firefox to find a new tab by "Wips.com".

While initially concerned that a virus on my laptop had hijacked my copy of firefox, I found out from http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2737553 that what actually happened was Wips.com has 'hijacked' addons.mozilla.org by inserting vastly different code into an addon which was previously useful.

The new version by Wips.com doesn't seem to be worthy of my trust, compared to the original addon created in good faith by the original author.

The massive change to the purpose of the addon, including "phone-home" code that reports back to Wips.com, should not have been allowed. It should have been published as a separate addon.

I really don't like the idea that a company can get their software pushed down to my system because they purchased an existing addon that I had installed.
