Hello,

I got an error message saying that Facebook is an unsafe connection, while it is the exact same link I always use. Sometimes I get in and sometimes it tells me the connection is unsafe. I made an exception to let Facebook through but it still won't connect. Now I get this message

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.facebook.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified. What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

www.facebook.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

I tried to find an answer here, but none of the solutions provided helped me. I hope someone has an answer to this, because it is very annoying.

Thank you in advance, Angela

hello angela, a possible solution depends on different factors. please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page & inspect the certificate (see the screenshot attached for instructions):

  • which issuer information does the certificate contain?

thank you!

hello Philipp,

I already made an exception for it, and now I'm not even getting that option. I had to confirm my e-mail for this question with another browser, because it won't let me in there either.

Thank you Angela

ok, then as a first step i'd recommend to run a full scan of your system for malware with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

Hello again,

I also tried the solution on the link you gave me. My error is the chain. The solution said I had to disable my SSL scan. I went online to find how to do that, but I don't have this ESET thing they are talking about, so this isn't going to help me.

Please what else can I do?

Thank you Angela

OK I will run another scan, but I scan regular. I just find it strange that it works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. Thank you anyway.
