I opened an attached word document and made changes, then saved the changes, but now I can't find the document to which I made the changes. Can I retrieve it or is it lost?

Update to this question: I found the file! It was in temp folder under local application data. Thanks very much.

I would expect Word or whatever you used to edit it to have asked you where to save the edited version.

You can't easily write the changes to an attached document; you generally have to save it so you have a stand-alone file to work with.

Use Windows' search tool to look for .doc or .docx files.

You can directly edit an attachment without being forced to save it first. I usually do save it first but in this instance I didn't.

I used "save as" in WORD, changed the document name, and pressed return without having browsed to a specific folder. So the question is, where did the edited attached document get saved? I used windows search tool and search on documents edited today but it didn't come up with anything.
