Thanks for Looking. On Many Various Websites ( maybe all ) the cursor can appear in the Search box sometimes high or more often Low. It Flashes but does not accept data entry. I have Screen Shots of Amazon and Ebay with low cursor -- when cursor is high it only appears as a flashing dot in the upper left corner of the search box. Most Commonly appears Low -- shows full flashing cursor. When in center, it functions as it's supposed to. Has done this at least since 28 or 29 version Updates. Often on sites I am familiar with, I just click on the search box and start typing only to find nothing entered. Any Fix ?

Thanks Windows XP SP3 -- FF 31

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Some added toolbars are know to cause Firefox issues. Open the Add-ons Manager and disable All of them.

Started in Safe Mode - still have same issue - no difference noted.

Other than my Avast and MS Net Framework I only have Adblock and Firefox Troubleshooter 1.1 just installed the other day when attempting to fix this issue on my own.

Please disable Avast as a test.

Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Do you still have the problem?
