A bookmarks folder has vanished but when I search in the sidebar for some of the sites, they show up, so how to find the folder?

The folder vanished from the sidebar and I search each of the other folders, but no luck. Yet when I do a bookmarks search for entries individually, they show up. But it is critical I find the whole folder for my work because I can't remember all the items [300 or so] and their URLs. The search function doesn't allow for searches for folders, which is a real problem.

Hi, you could have a look in your Profile. Or, have you tried to restore from backup - open bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Restore.

If they show in a search then you can look at these extensions to get an extra column in the Bookmarks Manager (Library):
