My Firefox update says it's still 36.0.4 but my plug-in page says to update to 37 but it won't work. Anyone know what's going on?

In the top right hand corner of my computer you click on the square markings to get options, etc. When I go to update it still says I'm current with 36.0.4. But my plug-in page says to update and it's now at 37. But when I went through plug in page to update and I tried it twice, it quits half-way through and won't update. So I'm wondering if it's not really ready yet to install on my computer. As that's never happened to me before. I set mine for manual updates so it always lets me know and so far it hasn't since last week when it changed to 36.0.4. Even my Avast software area tells me Firefox is still up to date. Though the computer I use at work updated to 37 okay. Just wondered if anyone knew why the plug-in page and the actual page I download from are not matching? I still have Windows XP if that makes a difference but we have those at work too and like I said it updated to 37 fine. Thanks!

Firefox 37 was released yesterday, I'm not sure why your updater isn't picking it up. Just go to www.getfirefox.com and download the newest version. Install it over your current Firefox. This will save all your data but update you to the newest version. Thanks!

Thanks Tyler, but I did go to that page through my Firefox plug-in site. I tried it twice and it stopped both times mid-way through. But I am noticing now that our other computers at work have the updater as 36.0.4 and say up to date as well. Could be a glitch with Firefox. Will wait and perhaps try it tonight. If it doesn't work. I guess I'm not going to worry about it for now.

If they don't end up updating, try the download from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

I'll check some stuff on our end and make sure that updates are still working :)

Okay. Thanks again Tyler. I didn't have that website. Hopefully if I have to go there it will work this time. If not, maybe the next update will. LOL!

Actually I just checked with our release team, and we did turn updates off to investigate a crash on Windows. I'd suggest you just wait to install Firefox 37 until we figure out the issue (it will be released as a Firefox 37.0.1 and should be out by the end of the week.

LOL! That's fine! Now I understand why my computer at work updated and why it wouldn't at home. Yes, when I went to 2 different places and downloaded the file and went to run it, it stopped halfway through. Guess that's what you meant by crash. All it said was that the install was interrupted and to press OK. When you did that, the download disappeared completely. So thanks very much. I'll just wait like you said. After all I just did an update last week again. Seems like Firefox has been updating quite a lot lately.

Hey again Tyler, You said to wait to the end of the week. I assumed you meant Fri. or did you mean Sun.? Because so far my updater hasn't changed. I didn't want to bother trying it again through the mozilla site as it shows 37 and not the one you mentioned to me 37.0.1 (Unless that's the same thing. You can tell I'm not very techy. LOL!). So unless I hear from you to try it again, I will just wait to see if my updater changes. The only reason I knew there was a new update in the first place was that I check my plug-in page all the time and it said I was using an older version of Firefox. Which is funny, really. When the last version was updated last week I believe. That's not *that* old.

37.0.1 just came out today, you should be able to update in a few hours. Try going into About Firefox and seeing if an update is available.

Hi Debrajean, if you are in a hurry, you can download an installer from this page now:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ (scroll down to your preferred language)

However, as of a second ago, it's still version 37.0 and not 37.0.1 there.

as of now the Firefox 37.0.1 is live on mozilla.org/firefox/all/ as it was not like 15 mins ago.

That update was likely just the 36.0.3/36.0.4 chemspill updates (March 20/21) for security fixes that could not wait for Firefox 37 Release.

The Firefox 36.0 is not new as it came out February 24, 2015.

Thanks Tyler and everyone. Yeah seems like my updater just changed. I like to keep my plug-ins and Firefox as up to date as possible. Though my Java is only at Version 7 update 76 because I use Windows XP and version 8, etc. said if I install it it might not work properly with XP. So I have left it there. But all the others I use I try to keep updated. Thanks again for the help!

Hi Shadyz, 37.0.1 is the latest. Guess there was some glitch with 37. Like Tyler told me the updater was ready late in the day and uploaded fine for me. Thanks also ideato!
