Can't disable domain guessing in version 37.0.2 in order to go to about.config

Online suggestions have not helped, including going to Preferences > Navigator, because Navigator is not in my version. What I need this for is to stop geolocation which requires entering "about.config" in the URL bar, but Domain Guessing ALWAYS adds www. to it, so I get "Server not found" error. Mac OSX 10.6.8. Thanks for your help.

It is not about.config with a dot, but about:config with a colon. about: is a protocol like http: and is used to access special built-in pages You can open about: pages via the location/address bar.


I assume that you are looking for this pref:

  • geo.enabled = false

Note that Firefox will always ask for permission before using Geolocation.

If Geolocation isn't used them websites can do a reverse DNS look up of your IP address and that is usually not very accurate.
