I would like to be able to use the bold fonts with my Firefox versions (released, beta, Nightly) but can't seem to find out how to do that.

You can't bold fonts, but you can increase the fonts size by going to setting option.

>> Click the menu button (three horizontal bars on the top right corner) and choose Options >> Select the Content panel >> Under 'Fonts & Colors' section, choose the size you wish to set, default is 16, you can set larger number to make it feel like bold effect.

Do you have a font installed that looks bolder?

You can use the NoSquint extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.
