Whenever I start to download something, over the past few months, the download always fails, and I have to hit the reload button before it will download. Why?

Approximately 2-3 months ago, whenever I try to download anything, the download fails. I then have to hit the reload icon and then the item will download normally. This never happened before then. It would not be a big deal, but some free sharing sites then make me wait 20 minutes or more to try to download, again, but the same thing will happen, unless I go to another browser, such as Safari, Chrome, or Opera. My browser is up-to-date, but I can only surmise that this began after updating it at some point. I have it set to update automatically, so I don't know exactly when this started. This never happens with any other of my browsers, just Firefox.
