Firefox has prevented the outdated plugin 'adobe flash'
Windows Vista OS. Adobe plugin version : 18.0.0.203 As you can see, I'm using the only and updated version available for Vista yet Firefox seems totally unable to realise this.
On Mozilla's Plugin Check page. It always says that Flash needs to be updated. Obviously this is incorrect. Why does Firefox seem unable to recognise that I am using the most up to date for Vista OS? I'm not experiencing any crashes, just a constant error message.

The current Flash Player 18 ESR version is actually 18.0.0.255 ESR
It looks like you are using a then regular Flash Player 18 version so if you want to continue to use Flash Player 18.0 use the 18.0 ESR branch instead of 19.0 release branch.
The version you have has been vulnerable since July 10, 2015 with newer updates since.

cheers for info. I updated as per links. However, firefox still said it was outdated.
Adobe Flash Player Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0 outdated 18.0.0.255
So, I checked to see if there had been a further update for 19.
In the past, the adobe link kept telling me I was already up to date for Vista and anything newer would not be compatible.
This time adobe said it was now ok for Vista and stopped telling me that I was already using the most updated.
Managed to download: Adobe Flash Player Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0 Up to Date 19.0.0.226
Many thanks for the link and help.
The 18.0.0.255 ESR is not on blocklist as it is 18.0.0.254 ESR and older that is soft blocked as you can see on https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/blocked/
Mozilla only puts versions of Plugins (and also Extensions) on list when they are of severe Security and also stability and malware concerns. Unfortunately the Flash Player plugins has had proven in wild critical exploits for most versions since December 2014.
