When I right click on a link I get a black box. The menu is there because when I click at the top of the square a link opens in a new tab.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Yes, the problem is still there. If I right click on a link and then click in the top of the black box the link opens in a new tab. So, it is a display issue, as the menu is actually there.
