Open Thunderbird (lates version was downloaded this morning). The left pane shows all of my folders, the left pane show Thunderbird Mail - Inbox with sub boxes for Accounts and Advanced Features.

I cannot access the folders without opening them into another tab. Each folder has to be opened in its own tab. I never had to do this before. I tried to access Options under the Tools tab but it will not let me access Options

- start Thunderbird in safe mode

 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

- go to tools | addons - remove the lightning addon - restart - start thunderbird - if you need the lightning addon, add it back at tools | addons

Does that help?
