Trying to deactivate a skype-extension/addon i was confronted with the fact that it could only be deactivated, not removed. That created frustration and waisted my time by the fact that i had to find out how to remove it anyway, outside of firefox (removing it totally from my computer, while i wanted i out of firefox)

That's a Windows SOP for programs like Skype to provide add-ons for Firefox; most of the time those add-ons aren't actually "inside" Firefox, but remain with the "program files" for the program that installed it. The disable /enable or remove features are many times controlled by the program that installed the add-on; but a few do allow the disable / enable feature in Firefox to appear and be operational.
