We have multiple accounts that are trying to use GoDaddy mail through Mozilla. We all have Windows 7 and are on Thunderbird version 38.5.1. It started with problems sending emails where we would be asked for our password and after cancelling or even entrying our password multiple times and trying to resend it would eventually go. It still is doing that but it is also giving an error message when we try to receive. The error states that we have been disconnected from the server. I have talked with GoDaddy and we are able to send from other devices and through their mail interface without any problems so we know that it isn't their server. We have even changed the SMTPOUT settings to try different ports, and it will work for a time and then start giving us error messages or asking for password again. Can you please offer assistance.

We have been having the same errors in my office, 30 computers or so. The few with outlook work fine.

I believe a workaround is to edit the settings for each account in thunderbird and disable SSL for the incoming and outgoing server settings.

I tried that a little while ago on a few computers and it seems to be working, however I do not like having zero security. Would be nice if Mozilla addressed this issue. (Or if godaddy updated their servers to be more future compatible). Whichever it is.

Since there are 4 Go Daddy problems on just the first page of this forum I would guess that they are providing their usual crappy service. Intermittent problems are almost always on the server side. Email clients are not rocket science. If the server settings are correct they work as long as the servers work. Saying that you can send via web mail means you know your username and password and nothing else. That is a completely different system than their SMTP servers.

However if it is a godaddy server issue, why does outlook work fine, and our 30 remote techs with email on their android smartphones work fine as well? Why did the issue appear in the last few days after a thunderbird update? Too many coincidences to blame godaddy's servers.
